The Belize History Association (BHA) in collaboration with the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) and other partners will host its Fourth Annual September Lecture as part of the 2017 September Celebrations.
The lecture is entitled “Youth Perspectives on the Belize-Guatemala Dispute and the ICJ”. It will feature presentations by tertiary level students. They will discuss the pros and cons of submitting the Belize-Guatemala territorial dispute to the International Court of Justice and the importance of youths in this regard.
The lecture will take place at The George Price Center, in the City of Belmopan on Friday September 29, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This will also be broadcasted live on Lovefm and The National Channel T.V. and Facebook Live.
Four youths from three tertiary institutions will participate in the lecture. This includes Chelsea Kuylen from Ecumenical Junior College, Markisha Jorgensen from Independence Junior College, and Joshua Pott and Kendice Armstrong from St. John’s College Junior College.
We are thankful to the National Institute of Culture and History, the National Celebrations Committee, Social Security Board, and The Belmopan City Council for their financial support.
We are equally grateful for the support given by our partners: Ecumenical Junior College, Independence Junior College, St. John’s College Junior College, Belmopan Active Youths, Belize Archive Records and Services, University of Belize, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, National Heritage Library, and the George Price Center.
We have a brand new Amazon Fire Tablet (5th Generation) to giveaway to our physical and online audience. To those who show up at the venue, they automatically get a chance to enter the raffle.
For our online audience, they will have to visit the Belize History Association Facebook Page on Friday 29 September, 2017. Once there, they should share the live broadcast of the lecture and comment. They can comment a friend’s name, hashtag #bhalecture2017, give an opinion on the event, or pose a question to the participants. Tip: Be respectful and make comments short and sweet.
Each person who shares and comment on the post will then be entered into the raffle. The winner will be drawn from the raffle box at the end of the lecture. There is a limit of only one entry ticket for each online participant.
